REVIEW: Estée Lauder Perfectionist CP+ Targeted Deep Wrinkle Filler

The newest addition to the Estée Lauder Perfectionist skin care line, Perfectionist CP+ Targeted Deep Wrinkle Filler claims to instantly reduce the look of smile lines, crows feet and deep creases on all areas of the face like the forehead, brows and eyes. In addition, it's also said to blur the appearance of lip lines and hold back lipstick feathering for up to 8 hours! Pretty impressive!

And, like all anti-aging products, with continued use, Perfectionist CP+ Targeted Deep Wrinkle Filler, promises firmer, smoother and all-around younger looking skin . 

Packaging: The pen-like dispenser allows for easy application, and like most Estée products , the color is soft, soothing and accented with gold. The tube is actually pretty tiny (a bit bigger than a tube of lipstick that holds .5 FL OZ of product).

My thoughts: I saved using this product for a night when I planned to wear a full face of makeup (foundation, powder, lipstick--the works!). I applied Perfectionist CP+ Targeted Deep Wrinkle Filler to my problem areas -- forehead and smile lines, but I did neglect to read the directions, which advise application BEFORE moisturizer. I found out why! After a few hours of having the product on top of moisturizer, my foundation began to look flaky/dry in the areas that I used the Wrinkle Filler on. Good thing I check the mirror frequently, because I made sure to add some moisture right away! The next day, after reading the package insert and feeling quite idiotic, I tried again, and was pleased with the results. My lines really were instantly smoothed! I have also since used it as a lipstick primer, and was happy with the results. The only con: my lips did feel pretty dry.

Beauty on a Budget: Olay Professional Pro-X

After months of hearing the phrases “global recession” and “economic downturn” I finally decided to try out the Olay Professional Pro-X line ($42 each, drugstores), which claims to offer results as effective as a prescription or luxury brand--at a fraction of the cost. For 28 days, I locked away all of my anti-aging products, most of which with $100+ price tags, and adopted the Olay Protocol, which includes the daily use of three Key Products: Age Repair Lotion with SPF 30, Wrinkle Smoothing Cream, and Deep Wrinkle Treatment. In clinical studies, the Olay Professional Pro-X Intensive Wrinkle Protocol was shown to reduce the appearance of wrinkles with no increased skin dryness and “provide significant improvement in facial stratum corneum barrier function after six months of treatment." Other products in the line, such as Hydra Firming Cream, Eye Restoration Complex, and Discoloration Fighting Concentrate, offer targeted solutions to individual skin needs. The Bottom Line: I found that my skin maintained the appearance provided by much more expensive anti-aging regimens, however my deep-rooted luxe-ist mentality left me with serious withdrawls from the big three: La Mer, Obagi and SkinCeuticals.

After assisting my husband and father-in-law with some drywall repairs around the house yesterday, I was reminded of a great product that has caused some heated debates in the beauty biz -- Cellular Patch Cream by celeb-skin authority, Sonya Dakar. An anti-aging product that claims to: Reduce wrinkles by 55%, increase firmness by 55% and increase collagen synthesis by 55%, it's no wonder people are expecting miracles at $155 for 1 oz, but let's get real -- not everyone will yield the same, positive results.
